Questions parents often ask

When should I book my newborn session?

I recommend booking your newborn session during your pregnancy to make sure I have availability around your due date. Some families book as early as 12 weeks, but most book between 16 and 20 weeks.

If you don't have a planned induction or caesarean, I'll usually book your session for around three weeks after your due date. If you do have a planned induction or caesarean, I'll usually book your session for around two weeks after your baby's expected arrival. If your baby arrives earlier or later than expected, we'll simply adjust your session if needed.

What age is best for newborn photos?

Most newborn sessions take place in the first few weeks after birth, but older newborns can still be photographed. Every baby develops differently, so I look at both their age and size when planning your session. As babies grow, some poses and props may no longer be suitable, so I'll always plan the session around what's best for your baby.

I offer both Traditional Newborn Sessions and Older Newborn Sessions, so there's an option to suit babies at different ages. If you're not sure which session is right for your baby, just get in touch and I'll let you know what I'd recommend.

How long does a newborn session take?

Session times vary depending on the type of session you've booked. Traditional newborn sessions usually take around two to three hours, while Mini and Solo Newborn Sessions are shorter. If you're not sure which session is the best fit, just get in touch and I'll be happy to help.

Are family photos included?

Yes. Family photographs are included in Traditional Newborn, Older Newborn and Mini Newborn Sessions. While family photos are included, the main focus of every session is your new baby.

Traditional and Older Newborn Sessions include three family pose setups, while Mini Newborn Sessions include one family pose setup. As every baby is different, the final images may vary depending on how your session unfolds. If you book a Solo Newborn Session, the session is focused entirely on your baby.

What if my baby doesn't sleep?

Don't worry, it happens more often than you might think. Every baby is different, and some sleep more soundly than others. I'll always work with your baby and adjust the session as needed. Awake photographs can be just as beautiful, and your baby's comfort and safety will always come first.

How and when will I receive my photographs?

Once your images are ready, you'll receive a private online gallery where you can view all of your photographs and choose your favourite images from the collection you've booked. If you fall in love with more images, you'll also have the option to upgrade your collection. Turnaround times vary depending on the collection you've chosen, and I'll let you know what to expect when you book your session.
